Bruckner was a teen for the film Blue Car (2002). She played a teenage girl who had an affair with David Strathairn's teacher. Roger Ebert wrote in his review of the film that Bruckner is able to handle the difficult film with complete ease. Bruckner received nominations for the Independent Spirit Award for "Best female role in a film" in this part. She was brought up with two brothers and one sister. She regularly practiced Hungarian to maintain her proficiency. Bruckner, a Hollywood California native born to a Hungarian as well as a Russian father who had divorced from their mother at some point in the past and was a child of an German paternal grandparent. The daughter is of Hungary-born parents, who met in Hungary. The family moved into the U.S.A. through an Italian refugee camps in 1984. There are two of her siblings as well as an older brother.
